What is a penile venous leak?
During an erection, the two erectile chambers fill with blood and press the small draining veins flat against their firm outer layer, the tunica. This seal, called veno occlusion, traps the blood and keeps the penis rigid.
In a venous leak, also called veno occlusive dysfunction, the seal fails. Blood drains out almost as fast as it flows in, so erections are weak, short lived or lost during sex. It is a common cause of erectile dysfunction when tablets stop working, and it can be proven with one scan.

Frequently asked questions
Can a venous leak heal on its own?
Rarely. A structural leak seldom closes by itself, but weight loss, exercise, stopping smoking and better diabetes control can improve a borderline one.
Will Viagra fix a venous leak?
In mild leaks it often helps, especially at a higher dose with a constriction ring. Tablets cannot close the veins, so severe leaks respond poorly.
Does Trimix work with a venous leak?
Often in mild to moderate leaks, as injections relax the erectile tissue more strongly than tablets. With a severe leak the erection may still fade.
Is a venous leak the same as erectile dysfunction?
It is one cause of it. Most erection problems come from reduced inflow, hormones, nerves or anxiety, which is why the leak must be proven first.
