What These Photographs Actually Document
Every pair belongs to one man: the same anatomy before surgery and after it. The before frame shows a penis that no longer becomes firm enough for intercourse, usually after tablets, injections or a vacuum device have stopped working. The after frame shows that same man with a prosthesis in place, inflated to a rigidity he now controls himself. What a camera cannot capture is the part patients rate most highly, which is that the erection is available on demand and lasts as long as he wants it to. Firmness Is the Variable, Not Size
A prosthesis is sized to the length of your own erectile bodies. It does not add length and it is not designed to. Comparing the two frames, what you are looking at is rigidity and angle rather than centimetres. Men whose goal is a change in dimensions rather than in firmness are considering a different set of procedures, and penile enlargement is assessed separately. Settling that expectation before surgery is the most reliable predictor of satisfaction after it.
Who These Results Belong To
Most of the men here reached an implant only after something else failed. Diabetes and vascular disease account for a large share. Nerve injury following radical prostatectomy accounts for another, which is why prostate cancer treatment and implant surgery are so often discussed in the same consultation. A smaller group arrived with Peyronie disease, where the bend and the erectile problem are corrected in a single operation alongside curvature surgery. The route matters, because it shapes what is realistic in your own case.
Questions about these results
Why does the penis look normal in the flaccid photographs?
Because a modern inflatable prosthesis is designed to be invisible at rest. The cylinders sit inside the erectile bodies, the reservoir sits behind the abdominal wall and the pump sits within the scrotum. Deflated, the penis hangs as it did before surgery, which is exactly what the flaccid frames show.
Is anything visible from the outside once healing is complete?
No. The incision is small and settles into a fine line at the base of the penis or in a scrotal fold. Nothing about the device shows through clothing, and a partner cannot see that it is there.
Do these results apply after prostate cancer surgery?
Yes, and that group is well represented here. Nerve injury during radical prostatectomy is one of the most common routes to an implant, because the erectile tissue itself is usually healthy while the nerve signal is not. A prosthesis bypasses the signal entirely.
How soon can I compare my own result with these photographs?
Allow six weeks. The device is usually activated around that point, once swelling has resolved and the tissue has settled around the cylinders. Anything photographed earlier is recording swelling rather than a result.
What if the firmness is not what I expected?
Rigidity is a mechanical property of the device and is remarkably consistent between patients. Where a man is disappointed it is almost always a question of expectation rather than function, which is why the consultation covers what an implant does and does not change before any date is booked.
